Abstract

Carol Seeley’s magnificent finished piece inspired me to do research about eagle eyes.  My initial plan was to create a large golden eye with streams of landscape flowing around it.  For months, I became very sensitive to eyes used in coastal native art.  Finally, I selected solid fabrics to echo Carol’s colour palette like a chart or a graph.  The eagles’ eye became a gold and black stripe.  Gently flowing quilting lines help to unify and soften the horizontal bands.  The vertical green bars were quilted and inserted last.  
My goal was to distil Carol’s complex landscape to its essence.
